I’ve deployed a few sites and implemented a number of IT solutions for organizations from various sectors, from for-profits to non, arts to tech and online-only to brick and mortar. Through it all, I’ve found some of the vendors I’ve worked with to deliver these solutions quite reliable.
Canada-based Web Hosting (recommended for clients who primarily do business in Canada for Data protection reasons)
- Hostpapa – I started with them in my earlier days. They were great for clients that needed the basics of a web hosting package at a reasonable price i.e. site hosting and email hosting. Though I would not recommend for e-commerce sites, especially WooCommerce.
- Canadian Web Hosting – Another great service provider with fair pricing and a rather unique backend in terms of how web hosting products are managed. But once I got past that, it was a breeze. Their customer support has also been excellent.
US-based Web Hosting
- Fastcomet – This one was a pleasant surprise to me. After a botched WooCommerce setup (mistakes happen), I decided to migrate our client to this hosting service and have had nothing but great service from them.
- Siteground – a bit on the premium side of pricing but highly recommended. Their UI, security and backend tools are truly industry leading. Best for my clients who already have an ongoing business and are looking to go digital as the ongoing cost comes as less of a shock.
Hardware
- Bestbuy: For big businesses, it makes sense to have a dedicated vendor, or several, for computer hardware in general but smaller businesses and teams can often get away with premium equipment at a standard retailer. I highly recommend visiting Bestbuy’s refurbished equipment section as well; You’d be surprised what you could setup for a fraction of the price you’d pay for brand new stuff.
